My Office for the day!

When I do a food shoot the conditions can vary considerably. I can either be shooting in the kitchen or out in the restaurant somewhere. Lighting conditions can vary as well as the amount of space available. Shooting in the kitchen can be loud, hot, potentially dangerous and very exciting. Its a lot of fun for sure but it requires that you be on your toes the whole time. The kitchen is a busy place and the cooks are all focused solely on making food fast, so don’t expect them to say “excuse me” or “lookout”! Its the job of the photographer to integrate into the flow and basically stay out of the way while still getting your job done.
